May 3 Remembrances

The Old Man of the Mountain, a New Hampshire icon fell from its perch on Cannon Cliff on May 3, 2003 and many rememberd where they were when they heard the sad news on that day. Each year, people from all over the country visit the plaza to pay respects to the memory of the Old Man, leaving flowers, sharing photos and stories of their Old Man memories.

The Legacy Fund Directors are building on the connections that many people have to the Old Man's legacy, as demonstrated with the outpouring of memories and stories shared each year. The beloved symbol continues to resonate with residents and visitors to the area.

A goal of the Legacy Fund over the next few years is to turn the current historic site building into the Old Man of the Mountain Legacy Center, an interpretive center/museum containing artifacts and historic information about the Old Man of the Mountain that demonstrate how it remains relevant today and into the future.

Connect With The Old Man's Legacy

Stay tuned to the website as plans unfold over the next few years about the new Legacy Center!
